family vacation.

Last weekend we took a family vacation. We started off our trip with a stop in Wilmington to visit the Fort Fisher Aquarium and Kure Beach. We stayed over night and then headed down to Charleston, SC. We love walking the streets of old charleston, seeing all the old building, and walking out to the beach. There is always a lot to see in charleston. Next we headed to Myrtle Beach. While we were there we visited the beach and then walked to the Family Kingdom amusement park. We loved our time at the family kingdom. It was fun to get on the rides and be able to look out and see across the ocean. The best part of the whole day, was seeing our boys faces, especially Landon's (priceless). Landon is scared of so many things that we weren't sure we would even buy him a ticket, but we took the chance and bought one anyway, glad we did. He went from one ride to the next..."again, daddy" or "again, mommy". Perfect day!
We ended our trip with a visit to the Asheboro Zoo, animals at the zoo are always a hit with the boys. What a great family vacation. We enjoyed every minute of it.

museum + pool

This last week we have been spending time with our good friends, The Christianson's. Our schedules are always so crazy, making it hard to get together, however we were able to get together twice in one week.

We went to THE MUSEUM OF NATURAL SCIENCES on wednesday and to the POOL on friday. It has been so much fun hanging out and visiting with them. So glad our schedules were able to make time to be with such great friends.

Our 4th of July Weekend...

Evan was on call, so there wasn't a lot of excitement going on around our house. We spent some time at the pool on saturday and lit fireworks on sunday.

We started off our firework celebration with SNAPS.

Then we moved on to the SPARKLERS.
We were able to talk Landon into holding one. He seemed to really be enjoying it until he put it up by his face and burnt his lip. Needless to say, he wouldn't touch a sparkler the rest of the night.

Following the sparklers were the SMOKE BOMBS and then
it was time for the real show, the TOWERS.

(a picture I snapped of the boys, just before the show began)

Once the show began, Landon started crying.
I know I shouldn't love this picture of him crying, but I do. It is adorable.
He sat on Evan's lap and covered his eyes the whole time.

We finished off our night with...WATERMELON.
(What is a 4th of July celebration without it.)

Although our weekend was uneventful, we all had a great time.
We hope you all had a HAPPY 4th of JULY!

Exploring Life & Science...

We spent yesterday exploring the life and science museum.
Every time we go the boys truly enjoy themselves.

We started our day by making music in the sound room and
continued making it on the drums and chimes as we walked outside.

We visited the farmyard and all the animals.
We made a stop at the train station and then continue on to the Dinosaur Trail.

We dug for fossils.

We made a stop to sail with the sailboats.

And we flew with the butterflies.

We had a great day exploring and look forward to exploring it again.

Camping at Falls Lake...

We used to camp a lot when we lived in Utah, but hadn't been since we moved out here to North Carolina. So Last weekend, we decided to pack things up and go camping at Falls Lake.
It felt good to be in the outdoors and enjoy the things of nature. We went swimming and fishing, then roasted hot dogs and marshmallows over the fire.

Later that night, we climbed into the tent and watched a movie on our laptop. It was after 10:00 after the movie was over, but you wouldn't have been able to tell. It felt just as hot as it had been earlier that day (mid-90's), making it hard to sleep. Oh and the hard ground didn't make it any easier.

All in all, it was a good trip, if you don't count the sleepless night, lol.
